Two-step algae first met in 2002, when Rod began working in the same outdoor shop that Chris did. The shop has a tradition of only employing people with a 'good taste' in music* - a policy imposed by the boss - and so it seems natural that they shared an interest in great music, from many genres. However, it wasn't until the winter of 2005 that Rod would invite Chris to make some music with him.
Chris had written some songs a while ago, but they never really saw the light of day until Rod pestered him to do something with them. Chris eventually confided in Rod, who was pretty impressed. At this point the two messed about with the songs until they became 'performable', and completely twisted to suite Rod's taste's and abilities. Slowly more material was added, resulting in the Skinidin Sessions, and the world was left trembling with excitement.
Despite Rod's joy at having met a kindred spirit, Chris's songs *would* have come out in time, it just happened to be Rod who coaxed Chris into playing them (and forced him to play in time).
The point about this site, the music, everything T-SA are, is that we didn't come this far to take your money. We do this because it benefits us; we just get kicks out of music. It's also a bit like keeping a musical diary - it plots a pretty ambiguous chart of our our lives as they change. In keeping with the networking, blogging, myspace generation out there, we're just sharing with our friends and having a giggle.
Many folk reading this will already know Chris and Rod. But hopefully others will find us and hear the music too. We hope you enjoy it in some way, and we'd love to hear from you. Sign up to hear about new music or possible gigs! We have no commercial value or interests, so we won't be bothering you with insurance quotes or double glazing.
two-step algae are: Rod McFarlane and Chris Ashton.
*Even John's taste is improving of late.
